Ensuring discharge compliance for COD, BOD and ammonia can lead to multiple instruments being required and maintained, increasing the complexity for operators.  A complete effluent water quality station can be created using s::can sensors.

At Thames Water, there are hundreds of s::can monitoring stations, continuously measuring multiple parameters in the discharge from the wastewater treatment works including BOD, COD, TSS, nitrate and ammonia.

Each wastewater water quality monitoring system consists of a concube controller with two s::can sensors, a multi::lyser spectral sensor which measures the organics, suspended solids and nitrate, and an ammo::lyser ISE for ammonia measurement. Autocleaning of the sensors is carried out using compressed air.
