Measuring multiple key water quality parameters including UV254, colour and turbidity using an in-pipe setup

The ability to measure multiple drinking water parameters in a network relies on in-pipe installation, in this case study the i::scan is used to measure UV254, colour and tubidity to do just that.

A series of 35mm i::scan’s were setup in a grid across a network to measure UV254, TOC, colour and turbidity. The i::scan sensors were combined with a concube terminal and utilised the moni::tool software to send the real-time data back to a central database for analysis and event detection.

The in-pipe sensors use a unique fixture that can withstand pressure up to 10 bar and has a separate valve to close the connection to the mains. This enables the i::scan to be taken out of the pipe for inspection or cleaning, without interfering with the flow of the water through the network.

Measuring SAC-254, turbidity and TOC simultaneously will set new standards in On-Line water quality monitoring networks.
